The Porcelain Veneers Process
Before your initial appointment, we strongly recommend that patients find examples of their ideal smile online or in magazines and bring them along to show Dr. Torabi. After we’ve reviewed your current oral health, it’ll be time to discuss the aesthetic changes you have in mind for your teeth. We’ll take detailed notes about your smile’s current shade and its size, as well as your face’s features. If we determine that veneers truly are the right option for your personal goals, it’ll be time to get started!
Veneers are very thin, high-quality restorations that are designed to fit over the visible surfaces of the affected tooth/teeth, hiding years of imperfections and flaws from view behind a gorgeous, new appearance. To accommodate them, Dr. Torabi will need to remove a very small amount of natural tooth enamel (typically one to two mm). Then, our team will capture detailed digital impressions that are sent to our trusted dental laboratory. In the meantime, we will place similar, temporary veneers to protect your treated teeth.
Once your permanent veneers have been precisely crafted by a talented technician, they will be sent back to our Claremore practice for final alterations and placement. Dr. Torabi will carefully remove the temporary veneers and ensure that the shape and color of the finished restoration is correct and approved by the patient. Finally, we will permanently bond the new veneer for a sturdy and stunning result.
Veneers can be used to correct several common dental flaws all at once, making them a solid, comprehensive solution for patients who want to achieve changes at a faster pace than undergoing multiple procedures. Dr. Torabi often recommends them for significant dental stains that can’t be treated with teeth whitening, chips and cracks in the enamel, misshapen dental structure, and even relatively minor orthodontic concerns like misshapen teeth and gaps. The high-quality porcelain material won’t discolor as quickly as natural enamel, either – this means that you’ll be able to enjoy the improvements for that much longer.
